Cultivation

Caladium bicolor is a low growing (about 0.80 cm tall), perennial herbaceousplant with stunningly beautiful color combinations of the leaves, some are red with green edge, some white with light green veins, some are mottledbright, some almost translucent.

The typical araceae blossum of the Calladium bicolor are white and appears quite rarely.

The name Caladium comes from the Malaysian word Keladi. And that means as much as plants with edible roots.

There are a variety of different cultivars, so the variety in the leaf pattern and color is very large.

The plant likes light shade, direct sun it can not tolerate, the soil should be kept moist, but waterlogging must be avoided. Drafts the plant don`t tolerates, just as too much water on the leaves, then the rot. But it needs high humidity.

It is not quite so easy to take care the Caladium bicolor. Ideally, keep the plant as a pot plant. But if you has found the right place in the garden for it, then it will thrive abundant leaf and the plant can be a real eye-catcher.

During the dry season, the plant rests. The plant can desidouos the leaves at this time. At the beginning of the rainy season leaves develop rapidly again.

All parts of the plant are poisonous. They should not be ingested and may irritate sensitive skin.
