Cultivation

Cochlospermum regium is a small tree that reaches about 7-10 meters. The most special on this tree are the bright yellow double petals that bloom from December to March in the dry season, when the tree has lost all leaves and before the new leaves sprout. The flowers appear on the ends of branches and occur in groups. The aroma is fragrant sweet and attracts a variety of insects, especially bees.

The green leaves are palm-shaped with 5 serrated edges.

The maintenance is easy. The location should be a full sunny place, so that the flowers can grow well. Watering only when the soil is dry over a longer period (when the tree is already established). If the tree is getting out of shape, it can be cutted in the rainy season. He drives off.

The tree looks best in a free place. Since all the leaves are dropping in the dry season, the tree should not be used where shade is needed and not directly to seat places.

In Thailand Cochlospermum regium is very popular and often planted in streets. In some regions of Thailand, as Saraburi, Buri Ram and Uthai Thani the beautiful bushy flower is the flower of the province.

Cochlospermum regium  is similar to Cochlospermum religiosum, but Cochlospermum religiosum has simple petals and not dopple petals.

Propagation: by cuttings,
